| Fitting fuel system |
| As I'm using the Honda ECU I will need to use all of the original Honda sensors. One of the vacuum sensors, the charcoal canister and the dash pot can be removed as they are just emission devices that will not be needed on an old mini :-). I am using the original mini fuel pipe as the return, a new 8mm internal diameter fuel line has been used for the fuel supply. Fuel filter from a Ford Focus is being used, it has 8mm outlets which is the same as the fuel tank. I did not have the fuel pipe that connects to the fuel rail (special union), I found that a rover 216 with the Honda D16 DOHC has the same pipe which I brought secondhand from e-bay for £3.50 :-) The engine needs a fuel pressure of 35-41 psi (3 bar), the MPI in tank fuel pump is suppose to supply 3 bar so I am going to give it a try, Watsons recommend replacing the mini pump with a Ford Fiesta XR2i pump. |
